(Deadline – Midnight – 31st July 2025)

The Harmony Centre is an independent charity offering facilitated and peer support for people living with or affected by mental ill health in West Dorset. We work from the perspective of co-production and recovery in all that we do. Our values of respect, understanding and hope underpin everything we do.

We are looking for a Peer Specialist to work as part of our Community Front Room team.

The community front room works with people in self-defined mental health/ Emotional crisis. For some people crisis may mean that they have suicidal ideation, but crisis will look and feel different for each person.

We are led by the person, and through really listening and working together we create meaningful and unique plans for safety to prevent suicide and self-harm. We sit with people and hold the hope for them while they can’t, through talking and sharing sometimes the world can feel a little less lonely and dark, a new way forward can be discovered. We do not judge try to fix or blame, we believe that the person has all that they need to navigate through crisis, we just help the person to tap in to those resources.

People with lived experience of emotional or mental health crisis, have a unique insight into what it’s really like:

If you can truly listen, and you can use your lived experience to develop empathy and insight,

And you feel that you can demonstrate that recovery and change is possible and you can help people to find their strengths please consider working with us.

Its vital that we can work well as a team so that we can support each other with this potentially demanding role. We need to be able to work reflectively so that we offer our visitors the best possible service and to ensure that we look after our own health and wellbeing.

We will ask that you complete training with us, some of it is mandatory some will be for your own development.

Hours are 14:00-22:00 Alternating Thursday, Friday/ Saturday Sunday.
16 hours per week. Working pattern can be discussed.
